Durable Medical Equipment Associate

Saint Therese of New Hope, a long term care facility and independent living center for seniors has an opening for a Full time Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Associate.

Candidate must have excellent communications skills and be highly attentive to detail. General duties include the maintenance of accreditation, contracting, and inventory. Also, this person will perform billing and all aspects related to diabetic shoe fitting.

Two years experience working with elderly and dme is preferred.

Duties:1.Maintain status with the Centers for Medicare-Medicaid for durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthosis, and supply provision including accreditation and surety bond. (Serve as DME-POS coordinator.)

2.Maintain the in stock inventory, place weekly orders.

3.Maintain all necessary forms and policy/procedure; train/advise other staff as needed.

4.Maintain all durable medical equipment aspects related to insurance plan contractual obligations.

5.Perform billing functions as Medicare Part A, B, MIN-ITS (Medicaid), or private. Maintain financial records.

6.Serve as a medical equipment counseling or reference source for residents and providers. May assist other staff in product selection but not installation in resident rooms.

7.Maintain personal diabetic shoe certification. Also perform all aspects related to provision of this product and service including heating and forming inserts.

8.Perform once yearly inventory, and internal audits to satisfy the American Board of Certification requirements.
Qualifications:Education: High School diploma or GED, Physical Therapy Assistant or Occupational Therapy Assistant degree preferred.

Experience: hands on work-interaction with elderly and durable medical equipment is preferred

Basic Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: proficient with English language, computer-Word-Excel, and other standard office equipment, excellent communication skills.

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: diabetic shoe fitting certification, ability to work well with elderly, some basic tool use
